CURRENT MISSION

We love to meet new people, share food and stories. We aim to broaden our family's experience by travelling, adventuring together, and spending time with lots of interesting people.

ABOUT ME

We are a family of six. abi is a potter and Chris is an urban planner. We have four children aged 17, 15, 13 and 11. We have a cat. We also have, at various times, bees, chickens, turkeys and quail and pigs. We don't smoke.

When at home, we both love to cook, to build and fix things, to grow our own food, and to spend time outdoors. Chris is also a volunteer firefighter.

When out and about, we cycle and walk to explore our neighbourhood and city, and whenever possible we venture further afield. Recent trips have been to Scotland, Cuba, North Carolina, Nova Scotia, and New England.

We love canoe and road tripping, potlucking, thrift store shopping, agriculture, and learning new things.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We enjoy sharing our home and our space with friends, neighbours and yet-to-be friends. Our life is busier now with four children, so as our family expands, so do our definitions of adventure! Some days adventures are provinces or countries away; some days they're found in a puddle outside the back door.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We've had many great experiences so far while both hosting and being hosted by others.

We've surfed on couches and shared our home with others for many years. We've traveled several continents, and in so doing we've received much generosity. We like to share in return.

We like witty, gritty, and true. We enjoy things like 'This American Life', Annie Proulx, and Wendell Berry. We like to read aloud to each other. Music tastes too varied to cover but we really love listening to live shows - especially in a relaxed festival atmosphere or on someone's porch.

With four kids along for the ride, we offer a lively stay! We love inventing games and using our imagination. We love creating with all sorts of materials - food, wood, clay, steel, cloth. We love to fix things, so if there's a repair to be done, point it out! We'd love to swap insights on gardening, traveling, parenting, inventing, and life in general.
