About Me

I'm a 25 year old college student that is in the process of experiencing American culture first hand. I've spent this past summer working at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon through a Work and Travel student exchange program. My ultimate goal in life is to experience and immerse myself in as many different cultures as possible. So far I've lived in Turkish culture, and experienced American culture to an extent in at the North Rim.

In Turkey, my life revolves around soccer as I'm a semi-professional soccer player. I love to watch, talk, and play soccer and I'd love to talk about soccer with you. I love to travel and talk with foreigners about their cultures. I'm definitely a hookah fan and I would love if you could take me to your favorite hookah bar.

I'm currently a student at the University of Pumukkale as a Business Management Major where I hope to further my studies and hopefully gain an academic career in my field. I would love to be a lecturer on the subject.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's every Turkish person's dream to travel to America and experience American Culture. Actually, we get monthly surveys through the Work and Travel program that we must complete and one of the questions is "Have you experienced American Culture?" followed by a list of "American Experiences". One of these , I kid you not, is going to Wal-Mart. A few more are being in a National Park, visiting a major city, to celebrate The 4th of July, to visit Native American Areas among other examples.

During my stay at the Grand Canyon North Rim, I feel as I didn't really get to experience any of those. While I did meet many amazing people from around the world and got to see the beautiful Grand Canyon, we were slightly isolated. The nearest major city was 3 hours away and I became slightly stir crazy on the mountain.

I'd like to really experience American culture for what it really is. I figure this is no better place to experience America than New York City. I want to see the Empire State Building, ride the subway, stroll the Central Park, see Wall Street, and really immerse myself in the city.

I'd also like to share my experiences and culture with people who are interested. I love talking about Turkey and my culture and nothing would make me happier than sharing my knowledge with you.

Interests

I love to cook traditional Turkish meals and desserts , play soccer, smoke hookah, watch movies, hang out friends, travel, dance, and talk about culture.

If you'd like I can cook you killer kebabs, damn good doner, screaming kunefe, banging baklava, or some super good sutlac. I love cooking traditional Turksih meals!

Take me to your favorite hookah bar and we can talk over some coals!

Let's play some sports! Soccer, Football, Baseball, or anything! I do have to warn you though, I am a killer defender at soccer!
