About Me
Hi all!
For years I loved traveling and meeting new people all over the world. The past few years though, I've neglected traveling (whoa expensive) and focused on exploring the Pacific Northwest. Now I'm ramping up for an Ecuador trip in May 2015, and getting to know other parts of our vast continent besides Portland.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The best part of traveling is getting to see the world through the eyes of other people. I'm really eager to meet other people -- whether by crashing at their houses when I'm on the road, or showing travelers around when they're in the old PDX. Unfortunately my house doesn't have space to host at this time, but I relish showing off my town to people eager to delve into Portland's vibrant neighborhoods.
Interests
Frequently I can be found doing: grabbing a pint of beer at awesome local bars/cafes around town, biking around town, hiking the Columbia Gorge, seeing local music, kicking back with friends.
I love, yet rarely indulge in: surfing, rock climbing, playing an odd game of pick-up kickball.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Fleet Foxes, Robyn, Beck, Beach House, Ural Thomas and the Pain, Sylvan Esso
Movies: Spring Breakers, Harold & Maude, Wolf of Wall Street, The Grand Budapest Hotel... I don't really put too much stock into favorite movies though. I can tell you the most recent thing I saw that I liked was Under the Skin
Currently reading: The Bone Clocks, Infinite Jest (perpetually stuck on page 237), Black Moon, Dragonfly in Amber
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once watched a sea turtle lay a clutch of eggs at midnight on a beach in Greece as part of a conservation project. That was pretty amazing to be a part of. Other favorite outdoorsy memories include rambling along the Cliffs of Moher in western Ireland; exploring temples in Luang Prabang, Laos; and biking to Multnomah Falls in Oregon.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm eager to practice language skills! Used to be fairly fluent in German, but it's been a few years so I'm a little rusty. Currently trying to learn some Spanish for an upcoming Ecuador trip, and I used to speak a little Thai as well.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'd love to cook a meal for you all, and generally share my company. I dunno? I'm new to the whole couch-surfing thing so maybe I'll revise this section in down the road.
