About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To share the gifts that have been given to me

ABOUT ME

I enjoy life, care about people, and love spending time with my family and friends. I am a life-long learner, and am especially interested in learning about other people and hearing their life stories. I grew up in Alabama, but have traveled all over the world with my family, friends, and all alone.

PHILOSOPHY

There is a reason for everything..I may not understand the purpose of some hardships but I attempt to be optimistic about all circumstances, good and bad. I try to see good in all people and situations, and do my best to be understanding of where people are coming from even if I don't agree.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hope to meet some neat people by letting them comes stay with me and by being hosted by other CSers. I would love to show off my city to visitors and hopefully find new ways to enjoy it. I think that by hosting and surfing I will be able to experience some different views of life that people have that will, in turn, teach me a little more about how very distinct and yet so incredibly similar we humans are.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I do not have much experience with Couchsurfing, as I have only hosted once, but so far it's been a really great experience and I am excited to surf, host, and meet people in my city through CS meet-ups.

Interests

I love to play soccer, although I'm not much into watching it on TV. Going to watch live music makes me feel so alive and I love getting to experience people's talent so tangibly. I grew up being outside about 50% of my day and although I am often busy with work nowadays, camping, hiking, picnicking, riding horses, snowboarding, or just sitting outside on a blanket reading are all still some of my favorite things to do. I am a chronic learner--I often will watch someone or ask them questions about what they do just to learn about something new. I loved being in school and have a whole list of classes that I wish I could take if I had the time and were still studying. Eating and living well is also really important to me. While I don't idolize my body, I think it is something that I should be a good steward of.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a week driving/hiking around Ireland with my best friend (once you get the hang of driving on the wrong side of the road, it's not that bad). I also spent a few weeks living on a boat on the Amazon river when I was 8.

Teach, Learn, Share

We love to cook! If you struggle in the kitchen, Emily and I might could give you some tips. I would also be happy to give some beginner guitar lessons.
I would love to learn how to play the banjo, mandolin, or euk. I also would appreciate getting to practice my Hindi or German with a native speaker (would also love a small lesson in French or Russian).
