ABOUT ME

i am a nerd, an adventurer, an optimist, a fan of good film and the occasional card game. i like penguins, dogs, birds and other cute animals. i am always seeking good flavors, heartfelt discussions, and beautiful landscapes to paint, snap a photo of (sometimes only mentally) or transgress. bodies of water and nature attract me, especially dancing in the rain! i like making lists and keep far too many journals. i am aware that i think too much...and i honestly am open to try anything once. I am a passionate person with a strong love of life.

PHILOSOPHY

I subscribe to the idea that life is rather absurd but meant to be enjoyed! I believe that we learn most from our experiences and the relationships we develop with others.

I am sincerely interested in almost anything--politics, and generally what's going on in the world, history, art--particularly the kind you can appreciate without knowing anything about it, music of all varieties, movies and literature and poetry that inspire and provoke thought.

Music, Movies, and Books

fav movie- good will hunting.
fav music- depends on my mood. sometimes, music that you simply can't listen to without jumping up and dancing! other times, i prefer a mellow tune. i particularly love folk and soundtrack music.
fav books- through the looking glass, harry potter series, notes from underground, fathers and sons...russian literature in general. the awakening. currently reading: the selected works of t.s. spivet (so good so far!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

About a year ago, my best friend and i sat down to watch a movie in her basement only to hear a strange noise coming from the fireplace...after investigating, we discovered two baby birds had fallen from their nest and were struggling to live in the remnants of ash and dust. Though it was quite late at night, we were determined to find a 24 hour animal shelter that would accept wild birds. An avid bird lover (I mean, my name is Robin), I let my mother, also an avid bird lover (she was the one who named me ;), know what was going on and she offered to drive us as the shelter was quite far away. so the three of us set off, placing the tiny birdies in a shoebox with tissue hoping to keep them warm during the journey. When we arrived at the shelter and checked on the birds, whom we had tucked in on either side of the box, we discovered that they were cuddling together. seeing them come together in their struggle to stay alive despite the odds was truly moving. :D

Teach, Learn, Share

-i can name every country and capital in the world (thank you, sporcle)
-have studied and still remember american history, latin, various literature, political science, some psychology, astronomy and more. i am a nerd :)
-would love to learn how to play an instrument (currently trying to learn the harmonica from youtube vids), more about medicine and anything someone else is willing to teach me
