ABOUT ME

I´ll start by explaining my profile name. It came about from my studies in Graphic Design, specifically Art History, back in 2003. The ´flaneur´ is a 19th century French figure from the poet and philospher Charles Baudelaire, and he is simply described as someone who walks anonymously in the streets, wandering without any specific purpose except to take in all of the happenings of everyday life, the real heart and breath of modern culture. ´Absurd´ seemed to go well with ´flaneur´, and it´s wacky. So, that´s basically me, a tourist trying not to make a negative impact on the countries I visit, and soaking up all the little things that make a country its own.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This is the first time I´ve used the CS website, but I´ve really been a couchsurfer and host all my life. I find that staying with friends while travelling abroad is always so much more rewarding than a hotel or hostel, as you can share experiences, cook meals together, and feel more relaxed, as if you were in your own home. But as well as freeloading for a few days I also hope to enrich the lives of the people I meet, whether it be a skill to pass on (see below!), a fabulous dinner cooked for my host, or simply a story shared that plants the seed of a new adventure in your mind....

TRAVEL - people, streets, MUSIC, historical sites, natural green spaces to poi and drink beer in, cafe life, bars, art museums, movies, FOOD....is this too general?! I´m open to most experiences....I recently went to a Buddhist Centre for the first time in the Sierra Nevadas,Spain, just to check it out. So, I'm open to many things. I do like cheese.

If you´re interested in improving your English, I´m pretty good at making up interesting lessons on the spot. It´s what I do.
I love poi (i´m still not sure if it´s ´do´ or ´play´ poi), and I´m accumulating moves faster than you can complete a 5-beat-weave. If you´ve got some long socks and a lovely park to go to, I can definitely teach you! Dancing is also my thing, indie festivals are the best thing on earth, and my latest craze is African with drum percussion. I also love salsa and I´m classically trained in ballet. Vamos a bailar!
