About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To discover the beauty of the world
ABOUT ME
I'm a student now, about to graduate college and start working. Before I do, I have a few months to travel.
I was born in Bangladesh, grew up in New York, went to college in Chicago, and have lived and traveled elsewhere along the way. In July, I'm moving to San Francisco!
PHILOSOPHY
Purpose and happiness are my main drivers. In my opinion, everyone should strive to discover what gives them meaning in their life, whether that's specific relationships, the work they do, spirituality, or something else. Fulfilling this purpose can only bring happiness and health, which everyone deserves
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Have surfed so far, looking forward to hosting once I move
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've surfed a few times and have had only good experiences
Interests
Right now I'm interested in traveling to new places, meeting new people, further developing relationships with those closest to me, and critically questioning the work I'd like to do
Hobbies wise, I like cycling, tennis, and am damn good at Tetris among other puzzle games. Recently, I've also been learning to code... it's been challenging but fun.
More broadly, I find economic development, technology, consumption, and the tensions between different sociopolitical actors across the world incredibly fascinating

Music, Movies, and Books
My musical tastes are eclectic and sorted, although I enjoy quite a bit of electronic dance music. Brass sounds really appeal to me generally, and I'm a sucker for a good bass line. I try to listen to music from all over, ranging from Amr Diab to Bombino to Kay Kay's playback singing accompanying Bollywood movies
These days I've been reading mostly nonfiction. When I was younger, I read lot of fiction. Much of what I've recently read has been longform stories online, across Longreads, the Verge, Mother Jones, the Economist, and the Atlantic, among other places. Offline, I'm currently working through David Mitchell's "Cloud Atlas" and Bernard Williams' "Truth and Truthfulness"
Ah movies are also scattered. I'm not too picky about the movies I watch so long as the movie reflects artistic thought and isn't primarily made for mass consumption. I've also a soft spot for animated movies but shhh don't tell anyone.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Raving in death valley, camping under the stars in the Thar desert near Jaisalmer, riding unknown buses around Pune to see where they'd go, befriending a con artist on London's south bank
I've camped in quite a few deserts... deserts and cities are some of the places I know best
Teach, Learn, Share
The two things I always carry with me when traveling: duct tape and toilet paper
