About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel as much during my student life

ABOUT ME

Junior at UW who wants to graduate with a double degree in Economics and Japanese. I really try hard not to shop too much but the sales in the US are too irresistible sometimes especially when exams are over! I guess the reason why I chose to do a double degree is to balance my academics. Economics can be really intense at times, while Japanese is really fun! (plus, I get to learn another language) I'm currently working on increasing my Japanese proficiency and hopefully can pass JLPT N2 by the time I graduate.

PHILOSOPHY

My current philosophy is to travel as much as I can while I'm a student because reality is such that I probably will not have the time to do so when I start getting tied down with work.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couchsurfed at:
-Chicago
-Tokyo
-Kyoto

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I started CouchSurfing in summer 2010 at Chicago. I admit that I was a bit skeptical about this whole system, because I've never come across such an amazing platform for hosting travelers. However, my doubts were cleared as soon as I met my first host. After that first experience, I gained confidence and trust in CouchSurfing and have then utilized it to travel in Japan.

Now despite having no couch in my living room, I am willing to accept surfers (primarily females) who don't mind sleeping on an air mattress. I believe that by committing myself to CouchSurfing, I can spread the goodness of it and also further facilitate cultural exchanges.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm mainly into classical and instrumental music, and occasionally J-Pop (although that has kinda died down).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Conquered Mt. Fuji (Summer 2011) and almost froze to death during midnight because of the lack of winter clothing

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach languages (Malay, basic Mandarin, Cantonese, intermediate Japanese) and discuss about Japanese language/culture.

I'd like to learn more about ... everything essentially and become more cosmopolitan.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
