About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet new people from around the globe.

ABOUT ME

I am 28. I really like Media (see occupation). I also like to laugh and have been told I'm an extremely good storyteller. I have an interest in pretty much everything, so I like to meet people from fields different than my own to learn more about their worlds.

As you can see, my couch is currently unavailable. I am moving, so that is why. The couch will return, but, for now, I have to take it down.

PHILOSOPHY

I live by the golden rule: do onto others and others do onto you. I help people when I can. I also live by my word. If I say I'm going to do something, it's going to get done. Maybe not exactly on time, but it will get done.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can host and will meet those that come to my parts (assuming I'm free) and would like others to do the same on the other side. I've always couch surfed with my friends. Now, I'm willing to do it with total strangers. Cool, neat strangers but strangers nonetheless.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to this site. I've always surfed couches though. I'm a tall guy(6'3), so anything that can fit me is always awesome.

Interests

I love culture. Whether it is art, movies, local customs, whatever. If it gives me the insight into a different space and world, I'm totally game for it. I am a grad student, so whatever spare time I have is spent going to cultural events (movie screenings, concerts, plays, etc.) or drinking.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: arthouse, slashers, horror, action, drama. Honestly, I'll watch pretty much anything outside of superhero movies and movies about the Middle ages. I really don't like the Middle Ages. I think they were a boring time in history.

Music: indie rock, punk, indie pop, rockabilly, psychobilly, surf, jazz, hip-hop, r&b, downtempo, house, metal (only Slayer, Motorhead & Iron Maiden really), some folk, some adult alternative. Fave bands are My Bloody Valentine, The Smiths, Jesus and Mary Chain, Guitar Wolf, Chuck Berry, Misfits, Chris Isaak, PJ Harvey, Wu-Tang Clan, Mobb Deep, Nicola Conte.

Books: I read all of the time. I'm currently reading the most recent Tom Wolfe book. It's pretty good. It's not bonfire of the vanities or anything, but solid. Better than a man in full for sure.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The first was watching a cheese race in France when I was in high school. The whole town came out, and it was a nice slice of tradition as the race had been happening for centuries.

The second was going to Jamaica. It was a place that I had longed to go to for many years. I was able to search out reggae records, and understand both that location's beauty as well as the ways that it has struggled.

The last was going to NYC as an adult. I went when I was a child, and the spirit of the city doesn't really hit you then. It's not until you're an adult pounding pavement and hopping trains that you realize how vibrant, exciting, and chaotic it really is.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach anyone who's interested how to play some simple guitar songs and bass lines. I'd love to learn new recipes and can probably teach a couple by now. I always like diversifying my cooking repertoire.
