About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'd like to get a job in Dubai or Abu Dhabi as a Civil Engineer or perhaps something in the field of architecture or urban planning.

ABOUT ME

Some things about me that have been pretty consistent are and enjoyment of creative expression, a calming presence, and a great capacity for empathy.

PHILOSOPHY

I've spent much of my life "in my head," so these days I'm trying to learn to balance that by being in my body. I currently don't have a sense of any particular purpose for myself, and that's fine, so for now I aim to deal with what comes my way, follow my curiosity, and perhaps wind up with an interesting story. I hope to cultivate understanding and empathy along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None through this site, but I've been couchsurfing a lot this past year. I've been lucky enough to know people who've let me crash on their couches in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, at Fort Irwin, and in various parts of Portland.

Music, Movies, and Books

"The Crying of Lot 49" by Thomas Pynchon is the book that comes to mind. I love visually beautiful movies like "The Cell" and "The Holy Mountain." There are so many musicians I love, but especially Aaron Copland and Sergei Prokofiev. Classical and electronic have been my favorites for a while.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lost 120 lbs!

Teach, Learn, Share

This year I learned to replicate ceramic figures using plaster molds. Maybe I can teach others how to do this? I also taught a bunch of people how to fold origami lotus flowers. I like to make a space for people to be artists.
