About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I just arrived in Colombia and would love to see as much of this beautiful country as I can before I embark on my pilgrimage to Aracataca!

ABOUT ME

After watching Wild (Reece Witherspoon goes hiking on the Pacific Crest Trail to get over her divorce and heroine addiction) I was inspired for a major life change (don't worry - nothing as serious as addictions or divorces) so quit my job, left London and decided to come and lead hikes up active volcanoes in Nicaragua. I love languages and am trying to learn some more Nicaraguan Spanish. After volunteering here in Leon and exploring more of Nicaragua I want to work my way down to Colombia and eventually Brasil to get my Portuguese back to where it was.

I love travelling and have lived in Brasil, Mexico and Bangladesh. Would love to host but as I am currently on the road I would like to be hosted by like minded people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love stories and I know everyone has one to share. Visiting a place and being shown around or given advice by someone who knows it really well is by far the best part about travelling!

Interests

I love the outdoors: cycling, swimming, running or just walking. I want to see beautiful things and feel part of them. I am friendly and hospitable and love meeting new people!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Camping on top of volcano El Hoyo in Nicaragua and waking up to watch the sunrise behind the smoking and very active Momotombo.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you want some help with secondary school level maths then I'm your (wo)man! I also taught beginner's Spanish to 11 year olds so my grammatical knowledge isn't bad either. I love literature, especially Latin American, so can always recommend good books. I want to learn as many new words as possible in as many languages as possible. I love reading books and watching films about the country I am in so any Nicaraguan recommendations would be much appreciated. As part of my current job I am trying to learn the local flora and fauna as well and especially about the science behind volcanoes.

Countries I’ve Visited
