Like so many on CS, I want to see the world. I've been working at McDonald's for the past 4 years to save up money for a few good outings, and I'd like to cut costs where I can. People tell me I'm outgoing and outspoken, so take that how you will, I guess. Learning and eating are my favourite travelling activities, and I'm happy to share these with other people who visit my home.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The best way to learn about any city, culture or world is through meeting as many locals as possible. Staying with hosts allows for an exchange of minds and a steady drinking buddy ;)
My main interest in travelling is to get into the minds of people from a different place. We often always realize how other cultures view the world (similarities AND differences), and I'd like to become less ignorant.
Free accommodation and a free travel guide obviously help, but it's really about meeting people and spending time with them.
Biking is my passion and way of life. I also enjoy good, intelligent discussions on a variety of historical, cultural, philosophical topics (especially epistemology and politics/contract theory!!) and board games. Show me a new place, book, restaurant, etc. and I'll love you forever!
Music, Movies, and Books
Les Miserables, Kant's work, Steinbeck, The Kite Runner, Animal Farm, anything by Wittgenstein
Velvet Underground, Red Hot Chili Peppers, musical theatre (Cabaret, Phantom, Wicked, Les Mis, Avenue Q), Beatles, Rolling Stones, some Elvis, MJ, Guns N Roses, Beethoven's 9th, The Killers, some Franz Ferdinand, Marianas Trench, Nirvana, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison (wish I knew more), and anything good you introduce me to!
Breaking bad, game of thrones, house of cards (US), skins, misfits, the Usual Suspects, 71, the Watchmen, a Clockwork Orange, Goodfellas, Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill vol. 2, House MD
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
On my 17th birthday, i designed my own bike tour across my island-city of Montreal, circling around the border in 9 hours while catching some AMAZING sights I didn't know were so close to where I lived.
Teach, Learn, Share
Learning the historical and culture around me, how they shape the way we see the world - a study of history tells me more about the present than about the past. I can teach you a little about Canada if you're interested, and some Improv theatre techniques (or Shakespearean acting, if that's your thing), bike repair, or philosophy.
ESPECIALLY INTERESTED IN HOSTING ARABIC- OR SPANISH-SPEAKING TRAVELLERS!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I will help with anything around the house. I'm pre-emptively appreciative of your generosity in hosting a weary traveller. If you're not working or at school, I'd love to explore the town with you, whatever town it may be, or just hang out and have a good conversation.
