ABOUT ME

Hello! We are Adam and Kelley, a couple from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, USA. Adam is a Physics major who recently graduated and will be attending graduate school at Caltech to study planetary science. Kelley is a natural resources major with a minor in sustainable agriculture.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We will soon be embarking on a backpacking trip across Europe for five weeks (summer of 2009, from July 15th to August 19th). We're incredibly excited to see the world and hope to meet some amazing people through CouchSurfing!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet, but we have only heard wonderful things from friends, and cannot wait to get started!

Intereses

MUSIC!!! The outdoors-nature, agriculture (sustainable, organic/biodynamic, permaculture), astronomy, ecology, philosophy, photography, running, biking, rowing, cooking, food in general... (will cook dinner for couch!)

Música, películas y libros

Movies: We recently enjoyed seeing within our last two weeks of exams- Slumdog Millionaire, Into the Wild, Milk, WALL-E, Gran Torino, and the Junglebook (we're trying to be honest). Anything filmed beautifully.

Music: We are both fairly open-minded (Adam). We tend to listen to a lot of pretentious indie music, electronic, jazz, and of course local folk music (Kelley).

Books: Adam is quite interested in 18th Century French literature (Manon Lescaut, Le Neveau de Rameau, Candide) and anything by Jules Verne. Kelley tends to read things that romanticize nature (Henry David Thoreau, Aldo Leopold) she recently read Small Is Beautiful. She also reads much about agriculture and the food system (a bit tired of Pollan).

Adam just finished running his first Marathon, and graduated from Cornell University. He has analyzed data from an ongoing NASA mission to the planet Mercury. Kelley is in the works of publishing her first paper and is working on a documentary with a professor on eco-agriculture and urban agriculture. Kelley has done some extensive hikes (Mt. Marcy, Mt Katadin, Half Dome at Yosemite National Park,the Grand Canyon) and is a scuba diver.
