ABOUT ME

Just enjoying some newfound freedom from work, and shaping the next passage in my life. My three goals: Learn French, study history, and learn the piano. Am already a musician (I sing and play guitar and some bass on American country, bluegrass and roots music, also big band American swing standards). Heading for France now where I will live for the next couple of years, I hope.

I enjoy quiet and solitude and long walks; but also long conversations over food, coffee, beer and wine about ideas, cultures, language, politics, religion and spirituality, and the human condition in general. Always up for a movie, theater, cooking a shared meal, and live music.

Am also gardner and handyman if you need repairs done around the house!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now, just as a surfer. I have no fixed residence now, and may not for a good while. In general, I am heading towards Provence, where I plan to spend the next year or two learning French. While here I hope to walk le Chemin de St. Jacques.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None...a total novice as of June 19 2011.

Centres d'intérêt

People, culture, the romance languages, conversation and ideas. Nothing I enjoy more than stimulating exploration of ideas and philosophies over red wine or black coffee (both very strong!). Also languages: I speak Spanish very well (five years in Latin America) and am making progress in French.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

American country and roots, bluegrass, blues and swing. With fiction books and movies, I tend towards anything with no socially redeeming value. Nonfiction interests are business development, creativity, and western European history.
