About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Just looking to meet some interesting travellin' folk!

ABOUT ME

Well, I grew up in a good home with good parents and a good childhood. I didn't get everything I wanted, but I had everything I needed. I was an excellent high school student and an average college student. I've got my share of baggage, but I've learned to keep it out of sight at appropriate times. I try and keep active by working out weekly and playing in regional ultimate frisbee leagues around Seattle; I played ultimate at UW and fell in love with the sport. I do a lot of reading to keep the mind from atrophying. I've got a job that pays the bills but doesn't necessarily give me peace of mind. I enjoy a good party the same as I might a quiet mountaintop. I've got a good group of friends from both the past and present that I can always count on to have a good time with. Like many, I've got a plan for my life but I have a hard time sticking to it.

PHILOSOPHY

It's human nature to look in the mirror and realize things could be better than they are. What people always forget is that things could also be a lot worse. The one thing you must remember is this. No matter how down your life may be at one moment in time, there is always someone somewhere who feels happier in your presence. Take joy in that.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Except for a few drunken nights on my buddy's living room sofa, I'm a rookie at the couch-surfing game. Got to start somewhere though.

Interests

Obviously, I'm a fan of the politicking. Mostly the reading, writing, and debating part of it. I'm also HUGE into music, especially the emerging European metal scene, modern smooth jazz, and the latest trance beats. I'm also an insane sports nut, mostly for American football of both the pro and college variety. And last but not least, I'm a sucker for Sci Fi literature, on screen and off. Aside from all that, I'm into whatever you're into.

Music, Movies, and Books

When it comes to movies, I enjoy cult pop-culture favorites (The Goonies, Back to the Future, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, Ghostbusters, The Big Lebowski), action adventures (Armegeddon, Terminator II, Bad Boys, National Treasure), sci fi flicks (Star Wars, Lord the Rings, Star Trek, X-men, Stargate), some feel-good films (Hardball, Notting Hill, The Truman Show), and ofcourse, sports movies (Varsity Blues, Rudy, Rounders, Rocky, The Sandlot). As for books, you'll most likely find me reading a fantasy series by J.R.R. Tolkien, Terry Brooks, Robert Jordan, or David Eddings. If not that, I subscribe to Time Magazine, Revolver, National Geographic, Sports Illustrated, the sunday paper, and the occasional Playboy ;) When it comes to music, I'm a junior-high metalhead at heart, devoted to the greats like Metallica and AC/DC. I'm also into a lot of progressive and power metal like Queensryche and Dream Theater. I've got a soft spot for early 90's alternative like Alice in Chains and Collective Soul. Recently, I've been immersing myself in European melodic and death metal like In Flames, Soilwork, and Dark Tranquility. Other than the above, I'm willing to try anything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have taken some spills in my life. In fact, I could probably count on both hands and feet a few times over how many times I've banged myself up doing something daring and stupid. What's amazing about that is that I have yet to break a bone!
