ABOUT ME

I currently just finished my graduate degree in International Affairs. I study women's rights, especially in MENA, trafficking, geopolitics in Eurasia and North Africa, democratization, insurrectionary and social movements, and theories of cosmopolitanism and international order and power. I'm in the process of creating a website to facilitate discussion and debate around global issues. That's my serious side. My other side writes fiction and comedy, travels, takes photographs, and plays tennis and footy.

Now I have begun an internship in DC with Search for Common Ground, so my traveling days are temporarily on the back burner. Eventually I hope to start a PhD program dealing with women's rights in MENA, and/or the implications of the Arab Spring, and begin traveling again. With Europe down, Asia should be next.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm happy to sleep on your couch, learn your stories, and if you don't fall asleep half-way through, I'll tell you some of mine. Hopefully sometime in the near future I will have my own couch to share, but firstly I need to earn some money. ;)

None. I've always been a hostel guy, so I thought why not try this out.

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many movies, but some of my faves are The Hustler, The Color of Money, The Big Lebowski, Swingers, Gattaca, (500) Days of Summer, Boogie Nights, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Music I'll listen to anything good, depending on my mood. Books I prefer fantasy or non-fiction, with the A Song of Ice and Fire Series being pure brilliance. Cormac McCarthy and Neil Gaiman are great too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Every second that I get to experience life is amazing, with each one more amazing than the one that preceded it. I've seen some amazing people doing some amazing things, and I just wish they got more publicity for it. The bad guys are taking up all the headlines.
