About Me
ABOUT ME
I've lived in Singapore most of my life - 7 months in Europe in 2015, the summer of 2016 in Sri Lanka where I walked in floodwaters to my first day at work, learnt how to read sinhala, and got to drive a tuktuk. In 2017 I fell head over heels in love with a dance called Brazilian zouk which transformed my life. Also began meditating and realising the power of living consciously. In 2018, I spent three months in Australia to volunteer on farms and learn about permaculture, and to my extreme surprise and pleasure discovered a great new passion for food, growing, and nature that led me into a new line of work. I'm a travel junkie and for some years continued to travel every chance I got!
Time flew. I took a long break from CS and am now back. If I were pushed to sum it up - for the last decade I've been searching for that median where I can grow and be content and self-fulfilled whilst pushing for greater equity and less needless suffering. I followed this thirst into sustainable food production, and now I've followed it into work with kids x And I feel blessed to be in a place where that now feels possible.
OTHER PARTS OF ME
I love learning languages, challenging personal limits, climbing, dancing, being with people, solitude, reading, films, having frank discussions about anything, having my perspectives challenged and broadened, singing, writing terrible poetry, swimming, and letting my imagination run wild.
UPDATE:
After 3 years as an edible garden designer and segueing into therapeutic horticulture, I reached a fork in my path - either committing myself to entering agroforestry and supporting sustainable growing practices, or committing myself to growing in a different way so I could focus on supporting human beings. I ultimately chose the latter as it felt more natural. COVID had shut down borders so I shelved my dreams of studying in Canada and pursued my masters in Singapore.
2025:
I'm now split across 4 jobs, most involving children, music and nature - a real blessing. I find myself travelling much less now that work takes up so much time, and can't wait to finally be back in Europe from March-April!
PHILOSOPHY
Live and let live, stay present, bravely face the shadows, and love with a warm heart.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love meeting people and getting a little peek into their souls, exchanging stories, listening and laughing together. The communities and people I've connected with were mind- and heart-opening, and some of my hosts have become dear lifelong friends.
Interests
I love singing, writing and dancing. Climbing of any sort makes me insanely happy, and I adore water and the sea.
West Asia and the Middle East fascinate me, I went to Turkey in 2015 and again in 2022 and she feels very dear to me. Hate remains so prominent these days (because our brains are wired to remember emotion, and fear sells in the media) but I like to believe love, compassion, clear-headed thinking and a little bit of luck and healing will help transmute it.
I'm also focused on doing my own shadow work this year.
