About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Discovery. Growth. Beauty. and always - peace, love&music

ABOUT ME

I love to learn. I love to dance. I love to see beautiful things. I love sunshine on my shoulders and my feet in the grass (or sand, or dirt, or pavement...) I'm 28 years old and just graduating with my Master's degree and am "planning" an around-the-country trip...leaving 24 hours after graduation. I put quotes around planning because while it's generally plotted out there's still a lot up in the air and I'm not trying to have definite plans per se. I don't have a ton of money and am not looking to do expensive touristy things. I want to sit and talk to people, and laugh, and hang out, and take pictures of the skylines of the city's I visit, and check out local music. I am a kind person who really loves others.

PHILOSOPHY

I am a lover. A lover of life. A lover of people. A lover of what is ahead of me.

I have a lot to still figure out about myself, but I've experienced a lot of growth the last few years. I look forward to traveling to help with some of what's yet to come.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, as of spring 2014 I am new to Couchsurfers. leaving Rochester for a while and heading elsewhere. South, west, north up the coast, and east again. By way of lots of places. Will need places to stay along the way. Totally love the idea of couchsurfers and since I love meeting new people I figured why not give it a shot! I've heard great things from friends who have used it.

So, currently I'm participating by looking for places to sleep and cities/towns to explore while meeting awesome new people and seeing groovy things.

When I get back to Rochester I hope to open my home to other travelers looking for a place to stay or a person to hang out with. :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None as of yet. Can't wait to update this.

Interests

I enjoy seeing live music, especially local stuff. I love going to small local festivals. I like to hoola hoop. I'm not the best at it as far as tricks and such are concerned, but I just like to dance with it and I've been told I'm pretty good at it to. I really enjoy reading and learning. I've been known to geek out on video games from time to time. I like meeting people and getting to know them. I'm a counselor by day, bartender/waitress by night so meeting people and getting to know them is kind of what I do. I love laughing and just having a good time.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't stay up to date on movies. I think it's been 3ish years since I've seen a movie in the theater. I'll watch just about anything, and I've seen some weird stuff...but some of my favorites include: Across the Universe, Zombieland, Clue, Kinsey, Bedtime Stories, Rent, E.T, and the old BBC version of the Narnia series.

Music - if I can dance to it, I'm happy. Live music is always different from listening to it in my car driving around. Live music is an experience of things to be seen, people to know, things to be done. I'll check just about anything out live if it's free or cheap. :) Music I'll pay money for generally include bluegrass, folk, reggae, jambands.

I've read so few books (that weren't textbooks or required readings for school) in the last few years. Those I have include: The Psychopath Test by Jon Ronson, Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk, and I am currently in the process of reading On the Road by Jack Kerouac.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I sat on a volcanic beach on the island of Stromboli off the Northeastern coast of Sicily amongst the rest of the Aeolian islands. I was horribly seasick from the boat ride that day paired with too much wine and a seafood lunch. As I sat in the sun with my feet in the water I turned around, an active volcano behind me and was in the most awe I have ever been in. Such beautiful things in this world. Can't wait to explore so many more.
