ABOUT ME

Kiwi mum and 15-year-old daughter pet-sitting around the world to keep our fulltime travel affordable. We are friendly and house-trained and have tolerance and compassion.

We LOVE couchsurfing with families - it gives Poppy a chance to socialise and play. We are also generally home in the evenings and relate well to parents and children.

PHILOSOPHY

I worldschool Poppy because to me compassion, tolerance and empathy rate higher than maths worksheets and handwriting exercises.

I believe nature is our teacher and the world is our classroom.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Our travel life is mainly house-sitting which can be quite isolating at times. I really enjoy the adult company I find from couch-surfing and the people I meet become the highlight of the location we are passing through.

My parents have hosted travellers for several decades and continue to do so now on my behalf in Nelson, New Zealand.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have surfed a handful of homes in-between our pet-sitting appointments. Some of my best moments whilst travelling have been directly related to the people we have met rather than the tourist activities.

Music, Movies, and Books

Poppy is a singer and guitarist and keeps up-to-date with the latest music. We both love movies and singing loudly in the car.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We couldn't believe it when a bald eagle swooped down and caught a fish from the sea right in front of us on Rathtrevor Beach in Parksville, Vancouver Island. The delight and awe on Poppy's face as she turned to me and said "THAT just happened!!!"

The way we currently exist is amazing to me - being able to see the world and travel without possessions, learning as we go and meeting people of the world feels like a fantastic way to live during this season of our lives.

Teach, Learn, Share

I find I'm most able to assist with marketing ideas for business, graphic design and website assistance. I will keep our space clean and tidy and offer to help with any chores. If you'd like to consider taking this opportunity to have some spontaneous travel, we will take care of your pets and home whilst you're away!

What I Can Share with Hosts

We will share our philosophy and love of life and learning - as well as cleaning up after ourselves. Poppy travels with her guitar and we are always up for a singalong.
