ABOUT ME

I've decided to travel the World for next 9 months. Before this I worked in offices for 10 years since leaving school/college. I love my home, London and England but I really want to see and experience new places and cultures.

I enjoy the usual suspects - meeting new people, most types of food, all types of drink, I'm comfortable staying in, going to pubs or clubs.

I listen to all sorts of music but currently my most listened to albums are Calvin Harris - 18 Months, Macklemore - The Heist and music from The Great Gatsby.

Film is a big passion of mine and whilst I am away I hope to write, whether it be personal experiences, imagination or an amalgamation of the two.

PHILOSOPHY

Clichés are clichés for a reason, you only live once, life is short etc etc. I'm not necessarily the biggest go getter out there but I'm trying to learn something new about myself during this experience. Mostly I like to make sure I have something to smile about, it costs nothing.

Find common ground. There has to be some similar interest.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have not yet couch surfed but have been recommended this site on severa occasions by travellers in different locations.

I feel this could be another great way to meet new people who have been ro places I have, share similar interests or would like to go to places I have been.

I enjoy most movie types but I just don't do horror films. I don't get them so I stick with genes I know I like such as action (Dark Knight Rises being one of the best), Drama's, thrillers, comedies, flip even romantic comedies such as Love Actually. I could go on but a current theme are superhero movies. Whilst they're predictable and you'd argue too many of them which are made for sequels, I like seeing those characters on the big screen. It's difficult to list a top 3, even a top 10 but Usual Suspects would be in there, Dark Knight Rises and for originals at the time, Hangover and Superbad. I just liked how easy it is to relate to but also how they refreshed the genre of people getting drunk and friendships.

As mentioned above, I like all sorts of music, mostly a mix between rap and hip hop to pop and rock but I also like to listen to chill out music too. So here are recently listened to artists -

I tried to read the series of A Song of Fire and Ice (Game of Thrones) but have hit a wall on the fourth book A Feast for Crows and finding hard to get into. I have a long bus journey coming up so hope to make some progress during that trip.

I like football (soccer) based autobiographies but also rate Michael J Fox's 2 books.

I'm not the greatest sports person, I used to play kick about football but 2 moments of different feelings which I have found hard to match are skiing in Canada where I just felt pure adrenaline and Scuba diving in Thailand where I was in pure peace.

Seeing United play at Old Trafford will always be a highlight, no matter how often, the opposition or the result, it's the Theatre of Dreams after all.

I came into this travel as an unaimed arrow. In that way, I can't miss however, I've definitely picked up that it doesn't hurt to research, plan, or at least have a general idea. Going with the flow is great but can be expensive!

I'm always keen to meet and ask locals for their experiences and recommendations on places to go. It's a great way to beat tourist prices but also a good way to get experience the local culture.

I would actually like to learn Spanish and ow to play the piano. Maybe only one of those fits into travelling trip or maybe someone on here can show me some basics on piano. As with meeting people, I guess you never know.
