Lead a simple life, in a small village in rural thailand. Have some mod cons., including internet. Not on am ission to save the world, bur would enjoy showing people an area of the world very few ever see .Or have seen. We are off the beaten track

ABOUT ME

I am a semi-retired English teacher,short, slim, balding, grey hair. Intelligent, articulate, very well informed, on most subjects.Read on-line newspapers every day.Relate very well with young people,Like a beer (or 2).Can cook, Drive a weird conveyance.Live in a simple house, no McMansion, keeps out the rain, Interesting tropical orchard and garden, strange swimming pool, in an interesting geographical area, which is NOT touristy, but which has connections with Ankor Wat (900 years ago, old Hindu and animist ruins).Go to our local market every Monday, food shopping,and have a few beers with mates.Ideal for those who want to experience Thai traditional village life, for a few days.Eat a lot of chilli, but know many can't- no problem.Some western food available ,if needed.

By offering an unusual rural insight into Isarn Thai village life, away from the bright lights and beaches.Definitely, no entertainment.Apart from a beer bar-STRAIGHT, no ?lol.By that I do not mean I am a prude-your social pre-dilections are your business. I hope you get my drift.Would really like people to be exposed to the Isarn village lifestyle, as a valid learning experience. Very few have,sad to say.I can show the historical, archaeological, and life styles of a very traditional,but interesting society,little changed over a long period of time,

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Only a little, in Indonesia, when I could not get a hotel room, as was offered accom. by a local family. But in Australia, I organised many camping and bushwalking tours.Wrote the itinerary, drove the bus,organised thefood and its communal cooking, etc..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A lot, but some are quite esoteric, and took me to places where others don't go,at a time when these places were not on the tourist map, Like Lake Toba, in 1977, when there were only 2 losmans on the lake, no hotels.Wonderful. China, in 1977, never had a key to any hotel room!!!Sat in Chairman Mao's rocking chair, in his cave in Yenan.( North West China)
