ABOUT ME

A few words I try to live life by: 1. Everything happens for a reason AND everything works out for the best. 2. There is always a solution. There is always a solution. There is always a solution. 3. There is no difficulty that enough love will not conquer. Currently, life has lead me to Kansas City (living on the Missouri side now) where I work with Cultivate Kansas City, a locally-grown non-profit helping people grow and eat fresh healthy food in the city. Food is one of my passions, so my work fits right along with that. There is just nothing as wonderful as sitting down to eat a meal where I can name the farmer/producer that contributed every ingredient of it. I grew up in Fairfield, Iowa, home of the Maharishi School based on Transcendental Meditation. I have been practicing TM my whole life and still make time to meditate everyday. It keeps me grounded and clear. Upon graduating high school, I meant to leave Iowa, but wound up at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. But, it was, undoubtedly, where I was supposed to be. Studying Sociology and Global Development at a school with some of the most passionate and active social justice advocates was eye-opening and empowering. I carry their spirit with me. Although I have lived in the midwest my whole life, I have been fortunate to travel around the country and world. Travel is another passion. I love the challenge of the unknown and the empowerment of discovery.

I have couchsurfed in Ecuador, Chile and Argentina and met some wonderful people through hosting in Iowa.
