My husband and our two black cats (Dry Bones and Gristle) are funny and cool, people tell us. I'm old enough now to just accept the compliment and pass it on to you.

I have lived in Iowa City, Iowa since August of 2012. Before that I spent 5 years in Chicago, 4 years in San Diego, a year or so in Washington State and a year traveling between Florida and Kentucky.

I read ~120 books a year, like to host dinner parties for my friends, and watch both excellent and excellently awful movies.

I have hosted many people in Chicago but took a break when I moved to a smaller apartment. I have met the most amazing people and loved every experience I had. My favorite was probably introducing a pair of Germans to the Chicago Blues.

Our current home in Iowa City is not conducive to hosting, unfortunately.
