About Me

I'm from East Tennessee and will always identify with the South and with the Smoky Mountains. I got my BA in Chicago and after earning my MS in Library Science at UNC-Chapel Hill, I'm living and working here in Chapel Hill.

I love to be around people and to explore! I think storytelling (be it via a book, a movie, or a conversation over coffee) is one of the most beautiful and important things in life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I grew up in a pretty hospitable home, so the concept of opening your door to people and hosting them is familiar to me. While living in Amsterdam, my roommate and I hosted a few travelers. Ever since, I've tried to be a host wherever I live and I always look into surfing when I travel. The people I've met through those experiences and through couchsurfing are all amazing and I'm grateful for them.

Interests

I study/studied film and literature, I love movies and writing, political science, debate, camping & hiking...I love coffee, mangoes, comedy, music/concerts, and so on. I like the adventure of trying new things and having new challenges. I like to be open to learning from everything around me and to remember not to take things toooo seriously.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Being in any new place and being able to ride around on a bike or scooter always seems amazing to me. Riding down lakeshore drive in chicago, on the back of a scooter in Rome, biking through cornfields in IL, or cruising on my bike in Amsterdam. There's something about that kind of exploring.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can make (and teach others how to make) an awesome omelette. Honestly, I love cooking brunch for people - when I have the time. I am big on discovering new perspectives on things and enjoy talking things out with people (whatever the subject). I know a bit about meditation.
