ABOUT ME

I am easy-going, optimistic, hardworking, disciplined and fun.

In terms of easy-going, I mean I am friendly to people (I'm a professional social worker), animals (I'm a vegetarian), and the nature (I'm from a mountainous area).

In terms of optimistic, I mean I always believe that my dreams (e.g. getting a Ph.D) will all come true someday if I don't give them up. I believe the power of hope. Nothing is impossible. I guess it is my too much optimism which makes my friends call me a dreamer or an idealist.

In terms of hardworking, you can immediately tell it from my occupation (I still don't understand how I decided to pursue such a painful, time-consuming, boring and heartbreaking occupation).

In terms of disciplined, I am totally indebted to my tiger parents, who used the traditional (or you can say cruel) Chinese parenting skills to raise me up in China. Though I still consider my childhood as a wonderful time, there are several scenes in my memory that you don't wanna know.

In terms of fun, all I want to say is that many of my American friends think I am fun (you know in the U.S. it is a very serious compliment when people tell you that you are fun, not to mention that I am a Chinese). I think all coachsurfers have to be fun persons to be comfortable with whatever kind of coaches or whatever kind of guests. Right?

PHILOSOPHY

I believe "life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you are gonna get". The best way to enjoy life is to enjoy the moment. I also believe that if you want something, you have to try your best to get it. Once you try your best and do not give up, your dream will eventually come true.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I do not mind to sleep on the floor as long as I have a safe place to stay at night. I do not like bring troubles to others so I will try my best not to interrupt other people's lives. I am clean and would like to keep everything clean. I appreciate any help offered by anyone.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have a few friends who have had couchsurfing experiences and I think this is an awesome idea. I love the idea that travelers can stay with local families and get to know new friends. I spent two weeks in Mexico with a study group last summer. We stayed with local families and had a wonderful time with them. I realize that couchsurfing can be a very exciting and challenging experience that I cannot wait to have some more.

I have a wide range of interests, like reading, watching movies, swimming, listening to music.
I love traveling all over the world to learn about different histories, cultures, life stories, architectures, food, people, etc.
I love reading books to obtain deep insights about human beings and societies.
I love social work, which teaches me that every life is valuable and beautiful.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

My most favorite movie is Forrest Gump. I have watched it for tons of times. It is also the reason why I came to Alabama to study.
In terms of music, I prefer Jazz but I also listen to pop music a lot.
I like reading books that have unique thoughts and are able to teach people how to live better.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

By far the most amazing thing is that I came to the United States to become a doctoral student in social work. All my family members and friends are in China. In four years, I have created an independent life on my own in this foreign country and have traveled most of this country.

Another thing would be I designed a one-month road trip two years ago. Me and my friend, only two girls, drove all the way from Atlanta to Miami and took a cruise to Mexico. Everyday on the road trip was amazing.

I love the idea of "mutual learning"!

I have a lot stories about Chinese histories and cultures if you want to know anything about that.

I also enjoy exchanging ideas about world views, cultures and histories. If you are interested in sharing with others about your local food, music, festivals, you are more than welcome to let me experience them all. And I will share my experiences with people I know of to let more people know about your place.

Particularly, as a social worker, I am a professional listener. If you need a person who can talk to, I am the one, as long as you can speak English or Chinese.
