About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Photographer & Filmmaker at heart and sometimes I talk too much

ABOUT ME

I am a Film Maker and Photographer. I've been writing scripts for nearly 5 years now and it still amazes me how difficult it is for me to sit down on a black screen and begin typing. But if anyone reading this is an artist, they know that when you hit that "ah-ha" moment and find your pieces voice, it's smooth sailing from there.

I was born and raised in New Orleans, LA, undergradute is in English Creative Writing with Minors in Political Science and Business Admin, I moved to Los Angeles for a little bit, hated it and came back to go to grad school and I finished with an MBA in Marketing.

I run a small digital media agency in New Orleans called cyantist.tv and you can see a lot of my photo work at my webste (www.photosbyahmed.com)

I have been putting off traveling for a really long time and now that my birthday is coming up and I'm done with school, I'm looking forward to see how the rest of the world lives.

PHILOSOPHY

All good things come from honesty.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participate by offering you my couch? I'm not really sure what this is asking me, haha.

But I will say this, I never go anywhere without my camera. If you do offer me your couch, I will be more than happy to take some really nice photos for you! Portrait, headshots, whatever! It's the least I can do!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet!!!! A few friends have successfully used this site and they recommended it. I'll be traveling early next year so I'm pretty excited to say the least.

Interests

People's stories.

Food.

Culture.

Films, Photos and books, but that can be the boring stuff for some.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I drove cross country by myself right after I finished college. I can see it not being that big of a deal to people, but I left to follow my dream. When I got there and it was a lot of disappointment, I moved back.

I am absolutely grateful for it to happen, because I think every artist needs a humbling experience that will perpetuate the next journey of your work.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm an American born 1st Generation Muslim. I grew up in a rather conservative family, but as I have grown older and found an undeniable passion for art, I have seen myself grow further and further away from organized religion and something more in tune with basic spirituality for the betterment of all humans.

I think there is inherent underlying connection between all of us, religious, non-religious or otherwise, that connects us all.

I'm highly contemplating shooting a documentary during my travels that confronts the slow decline of organized religion in the lives of people from my generation.
