About Me

I’m a film freak that likes to read and is always up for learning new stuff. My inquisitiveness results in an openness and broad field of interests. I like music, mostly calm music like Bon Iver, Sigur Ros and Bonobo and I enjoy a glass of red wine once in a while. I’m always up for a deep conversation about the fascinating world we are living in. Trying to be kind to the planet and it’s people I like to eat vegan, but once in a while I allow myself to cheat. I’m easy to hang out with and I’m always considerate of the people that surround me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I thought Couchsurfing was too good to be true, but I’ve had the extreme pleasure and fortune to experience being hosted a few times whilst travelling up the west coast with an awesome travel buddy and it has truly opened up my eyes. I’ve loved meeting hosts and other backpackers, playing games and sharing meals, connecting and learning new things about other cultures and hearing about people’s lives and adventures. I love how open and kind everyone has been so far, it is an extraordinary culture that I would love to be a part of and continue to meet lovely people and share great conversation.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love films, picking just a few is hard, so here is a selection of films from scrolling through my Letterboxd diary that I really enjoyed, not comprehensive by any means, but maybe a little insight into what I like -
Call Me By Your Name, Paterson, Get Out, Harold and Maude, When Harry met Sally, Blakkkklansman, almost any Wes Anderson, film, Housekeeping, Moonlight, Paper Moon, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Captain Fantastic, Toni Erdman, I Daniel Blake.

Books: I am in the middle of getting though the Neapolitan novels by Elena Ferrante and am absolutely adoring them. I read Death of a River Guide by Tassie writer Richard Flanagan here in Aus and I really enjoyed it. I loved reading Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas in a tent at a festival. I’m still discovering what I like, and wanting to branch out into non-fiction, I’d like to read some psychology books, and get into poetry again and maybe essays, but it’s all a process.

Music: Bon Iver, Dan Mangan, Damien Rice, Florence and the Machine, First Aid Kit, The Killers (back in the day) But I’ve been listening to a whole bunch of varied stuff on the road, Latin, balkan, cheesy, nostalgic, quirky, calming, just depends on the mood :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I travelled to Australia all by myself and I learned how meeting all sorts of people can result in life changing events.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you some bad Montenegrin words, coz it’s always fun to know how to curse in many a different language. I do not love to cook (yet) but I love my coconut curry lentil soup from VegAngela and would be happy to pass it on. Some silly drama games if there are enough people and you don’t mind looking a bit odd.

I would love to learn more about many things such as permaculture, growing veggies in general, fermentation, meditation and other spiritual practises, I never could get into yoga so maybe there is someone out there who can make it seem more accessible. I’d love to learn how to enjoy cooking tasty, nourishing veggie meals. Art, literature, history, travel, activism, community, the environment - basically I just love to hear people talking passionately about the things that interest them.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would love to share conversation with you, ideas and thoughts about life, but also, we can talk about what’s good on Netflix. I’ve done many odd, unusual things in my life, I often downplay or hesitate to talk about my strange, eclectic life but if you’re interested I’ve done courses in festival production, run a student film festival, volunteered for a immersive cinema organisation, been an Extra on films and telly and a theatre production sort of. I’ve played many a drama game, seen good and bad theatre, made a not very good short film but loved doing it, dabbled in improv. And probably lots of other things that I can’t remember right now. I ask a lot of questions and really love hearing people’s stories and am learning how to share mine.
