ABOUT ME

I'm an easy going 30 year old from Scotland that is currently making her way across America, in to Canada and down in to South America. I have been having a good time in the USA so far and I've found that most Americans are super friendly and I have been loving the hostel experiences I've been having. However I am quickly becoming aware that constantly staying in hostels is rather pricey so on the advice of a friend I have decided to sign up to couch surfing. I'm hoping to meet some interesting people and gain some insider info about the places I'm visiting from the hosts that I (hopefully) stay with. I would also like to think that I would bring a wee bit of different culture in to a hosts home.

PHILOSOPHY

Hmmm, tricky one. I think I'll go with the following brief statements:
It's nice to be nice.
Take the rough with the smooth.
What's for you won't go by you (my Mum's favourite).
If you behave like an arsehole people will treat you like an arsehole.
Just do your best to be a good person and smile as often as you can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've not surfed on a couch yet (or on a wave for that matter) so I'm not sure how I would participate! I'd like to think that I would provide some witty banter, an open mind, and a helping hand in the kitchen.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None. But I've been told it is an excellent way to see the true side of the places you visit and an excellent way to meet good people.

Interests

I enjoy a variety of activities, since I've been travelling I especially like to find out about people and the things they do and enjoy in their day to day lives and when they are travelling. I also enjoy reading, visiting museums, walking, seeing places of natural beauty, dancing, consuming the occasional wee drink (would be rude not to since I'm Scottish after all!) listening to all types of music and watching live music from big gigs and festivals to local bands in small bars.
I've stayed on a few couches in the past and I have been told that I am a good guest as I keep things tidy and have courtesy and respect for my host/s.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have an eclectic taste in music that ranges from Motown to rock to country to traditional folk to acoustic to reggae to 80's to 90"s to soul to funk to hip hop to the Beach Boys. I'll listen to anything as long as it's decent.
I'm not a huge movie person but I can tell you that I do NOT like scary films, I like comedy and action and disney!
Love books and will read almost anything. Personal favourites include: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes, anything by Jane Austin, Julia Donaldson's childrens books, Treasure Island, Haroun and The Sea of Stories. Will stop before the list gets too long.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is a very tricky question.
I'm going to go with seeing the Northern Lights.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a pretty good level of general knowledge.
I know a bit about Scottish history and a lot about Scottish culture.
I can dance and teach dance in a variety of styles.
I love baking and make really good brownies and cookies (trying not to blow my own trumpet!).
