ABOUT ME

I'm from America, but I don't really think of myself as being American. I don't really like how the country is going. That's why I'm now in Russia!

I love to cook, even more so when cooking with people. There's not much better than sharing some great home-cooked food with friends, old or new! Except for maybe sharing a great homebrew!

I love going to new places and finding great little cafes or restaurants that serve great food!

I never want to take advantage of people. I like to share all that I have. I do my best to be respectful of other people, their belongings, and their space.

I like to try new foods. I can't eat eggs though, which can be difficult at times. I also don't eat seafood of any kind. Other than that I'm good to go!

I never know what to write in the Subject line of an e-mail or other message things that have them. Perhaps InfraRed Elephants would be suitable, but that is IRelephant.

PHILOSOPHY

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new to the community, but I love meeting new people, one person at a time! So far I have only Surfed. I look forward to hosting.

I have also been trying to go to the CS events in London. They have been a lot of fun!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed around London for two weeks so far, still surfing and having a great time!

Interests

Music, Movies, Fantasy, Sci-fi, Food, Language, Alcohol (but I'm not a boozer, I like brewing my own beer), Nature, Creating a Self-Sufficient Eco-Friendly Carbon-Neutral Community, Fairy Tales, Origami, Making Anything, Card Games, Board Games, RPGs and probably many other things. It's hard to list them all at once!

Music, Movies, and Books

I like books with pictures in them; Where The Wild Things Are, East of the Sun and West of the Moon, and Edward Gorey books. Non-picture book authors I like include Terry Pratchett, Ralph Ellison, Carl Hiassen, George R.R. Martin, and Christopher Moore.

My favorite movies are numerous. I like Kurosawa films, anything that uses the Jim Henson Creature Shop, Foreign films, Monty Python, Stephen Chow films, Sam Raimi films, Bruce Campbell films, anything Sam Rockwell is in, Wim Wenders and Tim Tykwer films. Some individual films of note that I like include Clue, The Princess Bride, Galaxy Quest and Gunless.

My favorite music: I like Talking Heads and David Byrne, Billy Nayer Show, Slim Cessna's Auto Club, The Four Postmen, Elvis Costello, Psapp, The Cat Empire, Magnetic Fields, Asylum Street Spankers, Barenaked Ladies, Black Carl, Vermillion Lies, Glenn Miller, Diana Krall, Ukelele Loki's Gadabout Orchestra, Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine. A bunch of other random stuff.

I watch a few TV shows on the internets: Castle, Burn Notice, A Game of Thrones, Community and Doctor Who. I like some other shows that didn't last long: Wonderfalls, Torchwood, The IT Crowd.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I rescued all my roommates and two kittens from my burning house. Maybe it's not amazing, maybe it's frightening. But it was definitely something!

I have herded reindeer in Scotland.
