Overview
About Me
My name is Aizhan Serikbayeva, born and raised in Almaty, Kazakhstan. I’m a friendly, curious person who loves good conversations, mountain views, and discovering little cafés with good tea. I work in marketing for a local startup and spend weekends hiking near the Medeu and Kok-Tobe areas, taking photos, and trying new recipes.
I’m new to long-distance travel, but I’m excited to meet people from around the world and learn about their cultures. Most of my “travel” so far has been hosting vibes — hanging out with friends who host Couchsurfers in Almaty and showing guests our city.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I haven’t traveled much yet, but I want my first trips to be about people, not just places. I’ve seen how Couchsurfing brings strangers together—I often join my friends when they host, and the stories and kindness inspired me to join. I hope to build friendships, practice languages, and exchange everyday life experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books
I can share about books I like ;) Travel memoirs and contemporary fiction. Here are a few in my top 10: The Little Prince, Paulo Coelho, and anything by Fredrik Backman. Recently read: A Gentleman in Moscow.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well, what can I say here? It's amazing for me because it is a personal achievement. Sometimes I like to write novels and recently I started writing my own kids book. A friend of mine told me about a platform replit.com which I can use to create an interactive kids book which speaks and shows animations. I wish to have kids one day and writing this book is something I love and it is a small achievement for me.
