Learn, explore, travel, challenge myself and others
My name is Jake. I am a 25 years old and I have just obtained a Bachelor Degree in International Communication.
I will be moving to Sydney permanently on July 11th!
About myself in a nutshell; I have lived 11 years in the Philippines and 12 years in the Netherlands. I've traveled back and forth often during those years. I went on exchange to Ireland in 2012 and then did an internship in Sydney for about 6 months.
I believe in hard work!
I believe in taking life serious!
Only you can create your own success and path in life (that's of course relative).
Success is the best form of rebellion.
BUT and it's a big but...
I also believe that humor and laughter is more than a coping mechanism - it really is the best medicine.
Also, if you don't believe in the culture you're surrounded in, than you might as well "create" your own.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have met some really nice people via couchsurfing. It's a great way to feel at home abroad.
I like to travel (but who doesn't?), write, swim, jog and tennis. I also like to go out and experience and explore the city; day and night. I am open to new things and quite liberal. I am social but not overbearing.
Music, Movies, and Books
Kahlil Gibran, Edmund White, James Frey, Patricia Cornwell, Steven Johnson, Mark Knofler, Iris DeMent, Joan Baez, Indigo Girls, David Gray, Dire Straits, Nina Simone; Jazz, Country, Dance etc - really depends on the mood
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Travelling to the Tiwi Islands in Australia.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm always keen to talk about art projects that I am working on and learn from other people's experiences.
