ABOUT ME

My name is Andrew Joseph Verkouw but most call me AJ. I am an easy going, open to almost anything kinda guy. I like to live by the seat of my pants and experience as much as possible. I have a policy of trying to love as much as possible. I love the outdoors and spend a great deal of time enjoying them by climbing, kayaking, cycling, running, camping and backpacking. I have a strange affinity for living in a tent. I love meeting people. I am spontaneous. I am TERRIBLE at math. I'm not the best with directions but have learned to enjoy getting lost. I will eat almost anything. I am Totally amped on my new life direction and going back to school in Colorado!

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in love and understanding. I am constantly searching for new ways to define my personal beliefs. The only really solid belief I have is that I think it foolish to pretend that I know what is going on in this crazy crazy beautiful world.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have participated thus far only by surfing, and attending the Columbus Ohio couch crash! Once I am settled in Colorado I can't wait to host!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In the summer of 2010 a good friend and I traveled North America in my Subaru and lived out of a tent. On this trip I was introduced to Couch Surfing and over the course of it we surfed many times! Recently I attended the Couch Crash in Columbus Ohio and it totally blew my mind. I am excited to meet the CS community in Pueblo, CO and participate in more small community events there. All hail Couch Surfing! What an amazing community of generosity and good will towards fellow humans!

In the Summer of 2010 I traveled over 15,000 miles all over North America with one of my best friends. If I had to pick on experience on this trip I would have to say it was scrambling up a nameless peak in the Canadian Rockies. We found our own way up the mountain, experienced fear and uncertainty and when we got to the top saw the most fantastic sight that I have ever seen. It was that 3 day backpacking trip that really got the mountains in my soul and changed my lifes direction forever.
