About Me

Happily engaged 💍

Hi! my name's Akili, I'm a Caribbean-Canadian living in Toronto, I'm new to couch surfing and excited to participate in the community! I like sports, food, nature and good vibes. So please enjoy my attempt to clumsily fit everything about me into one page :).
(The emojis are for colour because I thought it looked boring)

**Hangout in Toronto
I love Toronto, I've lived between Canada and Guyana my whole life so I know the city pretty well and would love to show people around. We can chill and go get coffee anywhere but Tim Hortons and I can show you around. Toronto is such a big city and it’s very multicultural, so while I’m not available to host if anyone wants a tour we have some really cool markets and restaurants with the besttt authentic food. There are also a lot of art galleries/museums that I haven't been to in a long time so if anyone wants to visit just let me know!

**About me
A bit about my personality I think I'm a very enthusiastic and passionate person, I love making connections and just experiencing life. I meditate, journal and I am starting to practice yoga as a beginner, spirituality is a big interest of mine and I’d love to talk about people’s life journeys and experiences with self-growth. I've been told I'm a very bubbly person and I think that's true. I like to bring light and good vibes to the places I go. I think one of my best traits is being able to stay positive in tough situations, knowing that whatever happens, happens, and all you can do is keep moving forward.

I think it goes without saying that I love travel but one of the things I like most about travelling is an adventure. Of the little I’ve seen, spontaneity and adventure are addicting feelings I want to get more of. I’m just really excited to start travelling, meeting new people and having new experiences. I love to learn about new cultures, fields of work and hear people's stories.
🏞
I obsess over a new activity every other day but for now, these are the things enjoy:
Yoga | Playing sports | Watching sports | Reading | Hiking | Crocheting | Sewing (making clothes) | THE BEACH (I'm from Canada, I crave sun) | Going to museums/art galleries | Working out | 🏳️‍🌈 LGBTQ rights | Anti-genderism | BLM | walking in the city | spoken word poetry | Live music of any genre | Swimming | Board Games |

**Inclusion and justice are very important to me, being accepting of all genders, sexualities, religions, cultures and lifestyles. If we share these beliefs lets be friends🙌🏾 **

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I've done is win a cross country race, I don’t think I have the stamina anymore since I stopped being a competitive athlete but I did it once and that enough for me 😁

Also one time I grew an avocado plant from propagating the seed and I am very proud of it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think the main thing I can share with the hosts is my Caribbean culture. I am half Jamaican, half Guyanese and I love everything about my heritage, I'd love to introduce people to our food and music and celebrations!

I can teach you...
- How to play basketball
- How to start crocheting
- How to use your devices (for older hosts/travellers).
- How to braid hair.
- Help you learn English.

I would love to learn...
- Your personal hobbies
- Your culture and traditions
- Your language
- Yoga
- The ukulele
- woodworking

What I Can Share with Hosts

Generally I can share anything, if you’d like to try traditional Caribbean food I could make you something I’m a decent cook. Apart from whatever you need help with I’ll be happy to help and do my part. Of course I’m a grateful to the hosts on here and I’m always courteous/tidy and will help out any way I can.

Oh and I love animals
