About Me
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Honestly speaking, I am not a big fan of living in Hotels. The sight of one makes me want to run away in the opposite direction.
And then there is couchsurfing, where people generously offer you a space in their homes. In my culture, being welcomed into one's home is serious business and we believe in "Athiti Devo Bhava" (A guest is equal to God)
I would love to see and experience this around the world and make myself part of a large enough family because Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (The world is one family)
Music, Movies, and Books
I love and live for all three and there's nothing like getting introduced to new music, books and films.
My favourites in films are Wong Kar Wai's In the Mood for Love, Ray's Charulata, the Before Sunrise trilogy, Amelie,
In books I am a huge fan of Jane Austen's characters, Pride & Prejudice being my favourite book. A few other titles among hundreds are Elm and the Big Hoom, Godfather, short stories by Manto, the entire Jeeves collection by Wodehouse and the list is endless.
My taste in music ranges from Leonard Cohen to Ghazals by Begum Akhtar, Mehdi Hassan, Jagjit Singh, Iqbal Bano, folk songs from India to Coke Studio Pakistan, and film soundtracks by Gustavo Santaolalla to bands like Rhythm Future Quartet, Cigarettes after Sex and Gypsy Jazz by Django Reinhardt.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Camped under the night sky in Ladakh, the sight is so magnanimous, you can only feel it's magnitude in the moment.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to cook and am more than happy to cook for you, teach you a few Indian recipes and learn your cuisine :)
My work interests include writing, filmmaking, photography, marketing and branding. I can help you with a few tips and tricks for your small business.
I also read Tarot Cards, so maybe I could interest you with a reading about a pestering question?
What I Can Share with Hosts
I wish I am stable enough to be living in one city and can share my home with people soon, but for the last one year I have been travelling every few weeks and have been sleeping on people's couches.
I hope that my current projects will be complete, and I can offer to help others like me.
