About Me
Hi, I’m Amit 🙋🏻♂️
A traveler at heart, with a love for slow, immersive experiences that go beyond checklists and tourist spots.
Over the years, I’ve found myself drawn to places that reveal themselves slowly, the quiet charm of a back alley, the warmth of a local market, or a conversation shared over a simple meal. I’ve explored the street food maze of Taiwan, the spiritual depth of Japan’s temples, and the layered chaos of Vietnam’s cities. Thailand’s forgotten villages and overnight bus rides have taught me just as much as museums or guidebooks ever could.
I travel not to escape, but to engage; with people, places, and cultures. I prefer staying longer, observing closely, and connecting on a deeper level. I’m laid-back, a bit quiet at first, but I enjoy meaningful conversations, honest hospitality, and sharing life stories over tea or a home-cooked dish.
Currently, I’m working toward a personal goal: to visit all 47 prefectures of Japan. I've made it to 18 so far, each with its own rhythm and flavor. It’s a slow journey, but one I cherish.
If you enjoy thoughtful exchanges, exploring your city’s lesser-known corners, or simply sharing a peaceful evening, I’d be glad to connect.
なんくるないさ — everything will be alright.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For me, travel has never been about ticking off places. It’s about understanding how people live, what they eat, how they think, and what brings them joy. Couchsurfing offers something no hotel or hostel ever can; a chance to see a place through the eyes of someone who truly lives it.
I’m here to connect with locals, share stories, learn from different ways of life, and hopefully contribute something in return; whether it’s cooking a meal, helping out, or just having a genuine conversation. Some of my most meaningful travel experiences have come from these kinds of human connections.
I believe that travel should be less about consumption and more about exchange. That’s why I’m here.
And yes, I want to learn cooking recipes from local people. Food is everything! 😁

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I’ve camped in front of Mt. Fuji by the serene Lake Motos; a moment I had dreamed of for years.
I once watched Your Name (Kimi no Na wa) in the same cinema as Director Makoto Shinkai and even had the chance to shake hands with him.
I completed the legendary Mae Hong Son loop in Northern Thailand on a 125cc scooter; over 1,000 km and 4,088 curves through mountains, forests, and remote villages. I stayed with locals, explored places off the tourist map, and soaked in every moment of the ride.
I’ve reached the northernmost point of Japan (Wakkanai) and the southernmost tip of Taiwan (Eluanbi) — both deeply rewarding in their own quiet way.
My bucket list is long and growing, but I’ll keep ticking them off, one journey at a time. 😉
Teach, Learn, Share
I’m still learning every day, but I can teach some of my design skills and the basics of photography. I’m always open to sharing my life stories, especially what inspired me to start traveling and how the journey has shaped me.
I want to learn more about people, their travel experiences, how they live, and what they value. Food is a big motivation for me. I love learning local recipes wherever I go. In return, I can teach a few Indian dishes that I cook myself, simple and home-style.
It feels incredible to be alive in this digital age where we can still create meaningful real-world connections.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share stories from my travels, insights into Indian culture, and a laid-back, respectful presence. If you enjoy photography or design, I’d be happy to share what I know.
I love cooking, so if you're open to it, I can prepare a simple Indian meal or help out in the kitchen. I’m also a good listener and enjoy meaningful conversations over tea, coffee, or just a quiet walk around the neighborhood.
More than anything, I bring curiosity, kindness, and appreciation for anyone kind enough to open their home. 🙂
