My name is Akul Vijay, I am 28 years old guy from India. I have been born and raised in Jaipur, a small town in the north west region of India called Rajasthan. I am quite a simple, straight forward, positive and a hardworking guy. I want to create a simple ordinary life but I realise that a simple ordinary life in today's world demands extra ordinary efforts and I do not shy away from the same. Simplicity and honesty are key values to me. My friends say that I am very lovable, reliable and that they feel at home with me ;) ( I must say, they are very true)

I have always been into sports since I was a kid. I loved Cricket, its a famous sport in India, it almost has a status of a religion here. It was brought in India by England when India was ruled by them up until 1947, thats when India got independence. Even though, India got its independence, it kept and cherished Cricket. I have been playing cricket for more than 17 years now, I have played on the National level and I happen to be a decent batsman ;) I also love Football and I am a big Messi Fan.

I love meeting new people and listening to their stories, being a borderline introvert, I might not always take the first initiative to start the conversation, but whenever I get a chance to get to know someone new, most of the time, I love listening their experiences. I love watching movies and going out to explore new restaurants and places.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have never really backpacked and travelled on my own. I have always travelled with friends or with a team for a tournament, when I use to play cricket professionally. This is the first time I am travelling alone and that too in Europe and I always wanted to travel like other backpackers. One of my friend travelled in Europe for 2 months and couch surfed through out her travel and said there is no better way to travel than surfing with local people. So I decided to give it a try and see how do I feel about about surfing with local people. I have always enjoyed meeting new people but this is a completely new process for me. So, I would like you guys to be kind and nice to me :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love all kinds of music. But I listen mostly to Hindi/Bollywood music, My personal favourite artists are Amit Trivedi, A. R. Rehman etc. And off course Coldplay.
In terms of movies, I love Udaan and it is a Hindi movie with great music.
I have read a few books and one of the first ones that I read and made a great impact on me was the biography of Lance Armstrong called It's not about the bike.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are quite some crazy things that I have done so far, don't think they are amazing. Waiting for an amazing story to be created, Hope I will make one soon. But as far as crazy is concerned:

1. One of which is I have an MBA degree, I do not know why ? :D
2. I happen to be an amazing Cricket player but I quit playing the game professionally a few years ago without any particular reason.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I believe that one can learn from anyone and anything, one just needs to have the attitude and the zeal to learn something. If you have the right attitude, you can learn from pretty much everything, from people around you, from situations ( good or bad ) and from your surroundings. Whereas, if you do not have the right outlook, you can go to school, go through various different life experiences and be in varied surroundings but might not learn anything at all.

I will be happy to share my life experiences and listen to others and learn whatever I can from them.

I am a relaxed, positive and a nice guy and In the course of 28 years, I have gone through several different experiences which I will be happy to share.
