About Me

ABOUT ME

I love my life and I have no major regrets in my life. I am habitually happy and constantly smiling. I try to live life which steers me and the people around me towards happiness. It makes life so much more pleasant. I avoid Negative Nancies.

Life can lack a certain sparkle without people. Now, I'm not saying I always have to be with people, but being with people adds an extra element of excitement and unknown. I am not afraid to speak with random people in the airport or on the bus to find their life stories and to see if they want to explore LA with me.

I was born and raised in Los Angeles. Absolutely love the weather, culture, and diversity of people here. I continue to stumble upon hidden gems of cafes or restaurants. Makes me love LA more with each passing day. Regardless, I am particularly keen on exploring other areas of the world as much as possible.

Do not be alarmed if I start to dance and head bop when songs with awesome beats are playing. It happens and I can't help it.

Favorite social lubricant: conversations that involve interesting science, tech, sociological issues, or dark humor

PHILOSOPHY

Live your life to be happy.

Couchsurfing. I don't have my own space yet. Once I am living on my own (probably within the next year or so), I would love to host couch surfers!

Music, Movies, and Books

Food: I like most/all food. More recently, I have been trying to make food that is simple but tastes good (following Alice Waters's philosophy).

There's plenty more that I enjoy and in all different genres/areas, but here are some that I like:

Books: The Alchemist, Slaughterhouse-Five, Unbearable Lightness of Being, The Poisonwood Bible, Five Quarters of the Orange, Stranger in a Strange Land, Balzac and The Little Chinese Seamstress, Still Life with Woodpecker, Another Roadside Attraction, Princess Bride, Freakonomics, Blink, Ender's Game

Movies: Terminator 2, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Roman Holiday, Seventh Seal (Det sjunde inseglet), Seven Samurai (Shichinin no Samurai), Death at a Funeral, And God Created Woman (Et Dieu… créa la femme), The Lover (L'Amant), Y Tu Mama Tambien, Snatch, Pan's Labyrinth (El laberinto del fauno), Pulp Fiction, Donnie Darko, Lucky Number Slevin, Seven, Ratatouille, The Boondock Saints, Fight Club

Music: Bonobo (old albums), Local Natives, Destroyer, Wild Beasts, Daft Punk, Sbtrkt, Cecil Otter, Dessa, Sage Francis, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Atmosphere, Zeds Dead, Blackalicious, deadmau5, The Roots, The Cardigans, Zedd, Steve Aoki, The xx, Zimpala, Djako, Bruno & Ohm, Thievery Corporation, Groove Armada, FRatatat, Fortet, Paul and Price, Bob Sinclair, Broken Social Scene, Igudesman & Joo, Rachmaninoff, Beethoven, Chopin, Kanye, Radiohead, Tupac, System of a Down, Rage Against The Machine, Muse, Astor Piazzolla, Explosions in the Sky (Note: If an artist made this list, it means that they have made songs that I can't live without. But I don't like all songs of any artist.)

Favorite Shows: Damages, Mad Men, Boston Legal, The Colbert Report, The Daily Show, Kitchen Confidential, Suits, Firefly

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw a live Taj Majal performance and he played some amazing bass. I also saw a friend literally produce a song that could easily be professional studio material within 10 minutes. I've built robots for robotics competitions. In high school, my friends and I made an hour long film which we showcased in our high school auditorium to everyone's apparent delight (who knows what they were actually thinking).

I don't know... I am always more in awe of others than of myself.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am more of a "jack-of-all-trade, master-of-none" type of person as my interests point to. The areas I feel I have the most expertise in would be martial arts, personal health, technology-related things, and cooking. I would love to learn more and get better at any of my interests. I don't feel I have much to teach unless that person is new at any of my aforementioned interests.
