About Me
Student AT Uvic from Guangzhou, China
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love traveling and signed up for Couchsurfing before my first trip across Canada in June 2017, visiting Quebec, Ontario, and Alberta. Back then, I was excited to meet new people, practice my English, hear their stories, and, to be honest, find free places to stay! However, as a newcomer to the platform with pretty casual travel plans, I often decided to move to the next city just a day or two in advance. This last-minute approach—combined with a bit of laziness—made it tough to find hosts in such a short time. As a result, I ended up relying on Airbnb and Booking.com for accommodations. So, if you notice I don’t have any reviews, now you know why! (Update Dec, 2024: Now I got two haha!)

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Big fan of Cantopop, especially Hins Cheung (My Alumnus / Mentor).
Movies: Begin Again, 3 Idiots, 2012, Homeless to Harvard, The Pursuit of Happiness, Manchester By the Sea, The Kite Runner, Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In; Infernal Affairs
Books: I don’t read much and haven’t even finished a single English book yet, but I really enjoyed You Are the Apple of My Eye, a Taiwanese coming-of-age romance (both the novel and film), and The Kite Runner.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Lived quite a normal life, if have to pick something, that would be I got accepted to UBC in 2016, I did really felt exciting at that time. Another one is that I kept exploring Canada as an international student in the past 8 years, I’ve been to Toronto for 5 times and a total of 7 out of the 10 provinces, hope i can finish the remaining 3 before leaving Canada.
Teach, Learn, Share
I’d be more than happy to share my life experiences with you and even teach you some Cantonese or Mandarin if you’re interested. I also love connecting with different people because there’s so much to learn from what they share—whether it’s unique life experiences, diverse attitudes toward life, or different perspectives on various questions.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I’m always eager to share my stories and experiences, whether it’s about my travels, life as an international student, or cultural insights from where I come from. I genuinely enjoy connecting with people from different backgrounds because it gives me a chance to see the world through their eyes and understand new perspectives.
I can share what it’s like to explore Canada as an international student, from funny culture shocks to the challenges of adapting to a new environment. If you’re interested in languages, I’d be happy to teach you some Cantonese or Mandarin, and in return, I’d love to hear and learn about your culture and language.
More than that, I enjoy having deep conversations about life, values, and ideas. Whether it’s discussing travel adventures, favorite movies, or different ways to approach challenges, I believe every interaction leaves us with something valuable.
