Overview
About Me
Hi, I’m Ali — UK-based, creative and curious. I’m into music (guitar / sound), writing, and building strange little art projects and “worlds” online. I love long walks, libraries, quiet cafés, and places with character (old streets, coastlines, hidden parks).
In day-to-day life I’m pretty low-key: I like early starts, calm evenings, and I’m currently leaning into a simpler, healthier rhythm. I’m friendly and open, but also respectful of people’s space.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like travel that feels human. I’d rather meet locals, swap stories, and see a place through real life than just pass through hotels.
Right now I’m using Couchsurfing as a way to travel on a tight budget without turning the trip into survival-mode — I’m looking for safe, calm stays and genuine connection. I’m not a party guest; I’m here for adventure, grounding, and good conversations.
When I’m more settled again, I’d love to pay it forward and host too.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: all of it to be honest having studied Music most my life, electronic/experimental pop, and ambient/meditative sounds. (Bob Dylan / Dorian Electra/ Massive Attack energy on one side, Sound design & the abstract on the other.)
Movies: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Her, Lost in Translation, Cloud Atlas, Blade Runner, Darjeeling Limited, There Will Be Blood.
Books/ Authors: Poetry (TS Eliot, Rimbaud, Wordsworth), Hunter S Thompson, Chronicles (Dylan), Douglas Adams, On the Road, John Steinbeck
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing thing I’ve done is manage a busy food stall at Borough Market — fast pace, long lines, constant communication, and keeping everything smooth under pressure. I genuinely loved the energy and atmosphere: the teamwork, the buzz of the market, and that feeling of being in the middle of something alive and full of character.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: basic guitar, songwriting ideas, simple music tech.
Learn: Spanish, local history/hidden spots, anything creative people are passionate about.
Share: walks, playlists, a good conversation, and a calm respectful presence.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I’m tidy, respectful, and easy to have around (I'll treat your home like a sanctuary).
Happy to contribute to groceries / basics and follow house rules.
Good conversation if you’re up for it — also totally fine with quiet / independent vibes.
I can share playlists, talk music + art, go for a walk/explore, or just keep things peaceful.
Years of experience working in kitchens so totally up for cooking meals!
