Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A friend introduced me to Couchsurfing while we were in Warsaw. I've always preferred experiencing new places through the eyes of locals rather than sticking to tourist spots. When I visit places, I loved it, but I feel a bit disconnected being surrounded by other tourists—despite being one myself.

I've always been drawn to unique experiences, so Couchsurfing immediately felt like the right fit.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don’t read as much as I’d like, but two books that really stuck with me are The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea by Yukio Mishima and In the Miso Soup by Ryu Murakami. Both have this unsettling, almost hypnotic quality that I find really compelling.

As a cinephile, I could talk about movies for hours, but if I had to narrow it down, some favorites are Kill Bill: Volume 1 (Quentin Tarantino), Chungking Express (Wong Kar-wai), Woman in the Dunes (Hiroshi Teshigahara), and All About Lily Chou Chou (Shunji Iwai). Lately, I’ve been watching a lot of Asian cinema—not sure why, but I’m enjoying the deep dive.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbing Mount Fuji is the first thing that comes to mind. I love trekking, walking, and climbing—there’s something incredible about disconnecting from social media and screens for a while.
