About Me

Hey there! My name is André, and I'm from New Orleans, La. An avid enthusiast for langauge and culture, I hold an undergraduate degree in French and Spanish Language/ Literature. As part of my program, I was able to study in France. and Spain, where I improve my really improve language skills. After graduating, I went back to school to study science (Chemistry, Biochemistry) and - oddly enough - afterwards ended up taking a job as a Spanish/French teacher, which I held for three years. Currently, I am studying for the entrance exam for med school and - to make it worth it - planning what I hope will be an exciting, formative trip to Europe and Iceland.

Needless to say, as are most on this site, I'm a fairly outgoing person who likes to meet other interesting people. My hobbies include language learning, coffee, going out, coffee watching films, coffee, reading, jogging, etc. (Did I mention coffee? ^^)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Looking to contact with other outgoing people - both locals and visitors - who are looking to hang or just give me any pointers they think I might enjoy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While in Japan, after learning Japanese in an Audiobook program for 4 days, I (over-confidently) decided to venture out on my own to meet up with another English speaker in the downtown area. After a fun hangout, on the way back, I wasn't sure which bus to take and ended up nervously jumping onto a bus whose ultimately path I was completely unsure of. the 40-minute ride truly felt like an eternity in hell. (Of course, to make things worst, I had 1% left on my phone and didn't have my friend's phone number.). Not sure that constitutes as "amazing" but it was definitely unexpected and hopefully not something most have done. (The other honorable mentions - as interesting as they were, I don't think - are suitable for CoachSurfing. :p.)

Otherwise, I've attended Christmas mass at the Vatican with the former Pope.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm extremely interested in other languages, cultures, and medicine. I try to be a fair introspective person and really enjoy sharing with and learning from others.
