HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

All kinds of people are welcome to stay with us. But as a surfer I'd like to see how other cultures live and think.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent half of my college days on someone's couch. It seems relevant to find which country has the most comfortable one.

Travelled for a week through Belgium and couchsurfed for the first time- very excellent! And a solitary night in Paris with someone who became a close friend.

兴趣

I love traditional ways of living and farming: how creative people can be with inventing tools and cooking. I was born on a small farm and I want to learn all about farm life so that I can build my own self-sufficient homestead. I love building things out of wood and making them absolutely as perfect as possible-I used to be a neurotic perfectionist when I was a cook, now I realize that perfection will come in good time with patience.

These days, I just love getting into any kind of crafting. Cooking, smoking meats cheeses and nuts, making things from wood and reclaimed materials from work.

My favorite aspects of travelling are discovering new cultures through their food and language, so I always sample the local delicacies and try to learn a bit of the people's language out of respect and as a way to integrate myself and get a better feel for their world.

Mark Twain tickles my satiric dark side and Perfume by Patrick Suskind is one of the best books ever written even though the movie was terrible. Ready Player One- if you love 80's pop-culture.

Music:
Beastie Boys, Black Sabbath, Tears for Fears, The Budos Band, The Monstars (not the Space Jam group), Megadeth, Lucille Bogan, just about everything except country- I never had a pickup truck.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Just about the most amazing thing that I`ve been witness to was watching 25 strangers become friends over a two week stint of volunteering at a vineyard. A lot of us became close friends and still stay in touch over 15 years later.
