Overview
About Me
Hi there! I’m Alessandra Desiderato, born in Bari 🌊 and adopted by the charming town of Ostuni 🌿. Starting in April, I’m off to Brussels 🇧🇪 for a traineeship as a Parliamentary Assistant—an adventure I’m super excited about!
I’ve got a Master’s in Sociology and Social Research 📚, a Bachelor’s in Political Science 🌍, and I’ve just wrapped up another Master’s in European Planning ✨ (because why stop at one?).
I’m passionate about meeting new people and diving into cultures—whether it’s through a good conversation, shared experiences, or even cooking together. Over the years, I’ve worked with non-profit organizations, focusing on research into gender equality and social inclusion.
Fun fact: I spent 9 years as a scout, where I mastered the art of teamwork, adventure, and maybe a little too much campfire cooking! Since then, I’ve never stopped volunteering—it’s my way of giving back and staying connected with the world.🗺️
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I’m on Couchsurfing to explore the world, meet incredible people, and share travel tips with fellow wanderers, especially those passing through Puglia, my home. In return, I look for the same: a safe harbor in this big, connected global community. And honestly, now more than ever, I value the chance to create meaningful connections.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love Italian singer-songwriters (but not only) and inspiring books. I also have a bit of a Netflix addiction, so...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
At 18, I traveled solo across Europe with an Interflix pass, not speaking a word of English (spoiler: I survived!). But honestly, the most incredible thing I do is showing up every day, rebuilding my routine post-pandemic, and finding joy in the small victories.
Teach, Learn, Share
