关于我
Hi! I'm Alex Atuheire from Kabale, southwestern Uganda—close to the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home of the mountain gorillas.
I’m the founder of Amatsiko Organisation (Amatsiko means Hope in Rukiga), a community-based initiative supporting orphans and vulnerable children through education and empowerment. I also run Amatsiko Tours, where we connect travelers with local communities for meaningful, ethical travel experiences.
I love meeting people from around the world, sharing culture, and showing travelers the real Uganda—beyond the guidebooks. Whether it's a village walk, a volunteer visit to our school, or just a chat over local food, I believe travel should build bridges and leave a positive impact.
If you're passing through Kabale, I’d be happy to help with local advice, a meet-up, or even host when possible. You’re also welcome to visit our school and projects if you're curious about community work.
我为什么加入 Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing because I love connecting with people from around the world. For me, it’s not just about travel—it’s about meaningful exchange. I believe when we open our homes, communities, and stories to others, we create understanding and hope.
As a host, I enjoy welcoming travelers to Kabale and showing them the real Uganda—beyond the usual tourist spots. I also run a school and a community-based tour company, so I’ve seen how travel can bring real change to people’s lives.
Whether you’re passing through or staying a while, I’m happy to share what I can—and I’m always eager to learn something new from each guest.
兴趣
I love meeting people from different cultures, sharing stories, and learning how others live. I’m passionate about community work—especially anything that helps children, education, and rural development.
I enjoy hiking, exploring nature (especially the forests and lakes around Kabale), and being part of meaningful conversations. I’m also interested in sustainable tourism, cultural preservation, and creating travel experiences that leave a positive impact.
When I’m not guiding a tour or working at the school, you’ll find me walking near Lake Bunyonyi, gardening, or spending time with visitors who’ve become friends.

音乐、电影和书籍
I enjoy music that connects to the soul—African traditional rhythms, gospel, and a bit of reggae always lift my spirits. I also enjoy quiet, reflective music when I need to slow down and think.
When it comes to books, I love anything inspiring. I’m drawn to books about community, nature, leadership, and personal growth—things that challenge me to become a better version of myself. Think and Grow Rich is one of my favorites, and I enjoy reading books that open my mind to new ideas and ways to serve others.
For movies, I enjoy real-life stories, African films, and documentaries—especially those that highlight nature, culture, or people making a difference in the world.
我做过的一件不可思议的事情
Helping to build Amatsiko Preparatory School from the ground up is one of the most meaningful things I’ve ever done. It started as a small dream—to give hope (amatsiko) to children in our village who had no access to quality education. Today, the school is growing and changing lives every day.
Through Amatsiko Tours, I’ve also been able to connect travelers with our community in a way that’s ethical, respectful, and inspiring. Whether it’s building a classroom, guiding a gorilla trek, or simply sharing a meal with a visitor, every moment has been about impact—about creating hope through travel, education, and human connection.
教,学,和分享
I believe in the power of connection—to teach, learn, and share. Whether it’s showing a traveler around my village, learning how others see the world, or sharing a meal and a story, every encounter is an opportunity to grow. I enjoy teaching others about Ugandan culture, traditions, and everyday life, and I’m always open to learning from guests too—about their journeys, skills, and perspectives.
