I'm a 36 year old English national currently living in Penang Malaysia.

After working at the Natural History Museum in London for a few years after my degree I bit the bullet and became a teacher. I've never regretted it in the holidays ;-). Eventually a desire for a little more adventure and a tip off from a friend lead me to try teaching abroad and I've been in Penang for the last three years. Its a great life and a really interesting place to be but I'm getting itchy feet again.

I like all sorts of things, but I am particularly happy out and about in the natural world, especially by the sea. I'm a keen sailor and could take you dinghy or even yacht sailing if you happen to have one handy. That said, a potter round a foreign city with a camera or some street food and beers definitely comes high on my list of things to do.

Recent trips have included a 3 week trip round Sumatra with a friend, which was great but exhausting, 10 days in Myanmar solo travelling and two weeks visiting my godsons in Australia.

I'm also quite into books, art, music and drama so fairly broad tastes for a biology teacher.

Oh also I love food and I'm a decent cook...

I've never done it but several friends telling me what a great experience it was has lead me to want to give it a go. I really enjoyed solo travelling in the past and I'd be happy to go hostelling but it just seemed like it would be good fun and I've a pretty social person. I've had friends I've met travelling come stay with me before but never a complete stranger. I'd like to give it a go.

Music - Everything from jazz to hip hop to rock to indie and some dance as well
