I’m a novelist from rural Ohio with a chronic addiction to history, martial arts, and budget travel. I write fantasy and historical fantasy novels for the most part. I’m a pretty controversial mix of Chinese and American but according to my Kazakh friend I could pull off pretending to be Central Asian.

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m a bit of a metalhead (love Sabaton) but listen to plenty of other genres, especially if it’s in a foreign language. I love old kung fu movies but also have a love for some of the artsy stuff. I like to read a lot of nonfiction about history, religion, and anthropology, but I also like reading fantasy and science fiction.

I’ve written eight novels and somehow managed to remain unpublished which I am definitely totally not a little sour about :)

Teach, Learn, Share

Part of the reason I travel is for the sake of meeting new people and learning about the stories of cultures and people with wildly different lives from my own. On the other hand, I myself have some pretty cool skills if I don’t say so myself. If you’ve ever wanted to cuss out someone in Chinese, I’m your guy. But I’ve also got a knack for practical philosophy, writing (obviously), and self defense.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories (oral or written), a less than practical amount of historical knowledge, good company, a pair of hands if need be. Oh and I can cook some killer Chinese food.
