I'm currently working and living in Urbana, IL. When I'm not working at the Natural History Survey, I'm cooking, hiking, running, or having a few drinks with friends. I am pretty active and would almost always rather be outside. I consider myself to be easy-going, positive, and considerate.

I love live music! I recently saw Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes and had a great time. Some of my current favorites are Beach House, Empire of the Sun, Local Natives, and Ben Howard. I will always have a special place in my heart for Ween.

For movies- I'm not much of a horror fan, but am always game for any 80's comedy (Chris Farley? Yep!)

My go-to book genre is sci-fi: Ursula K. LeGuin, Margaret Atwood, J K Rowling, and Octavia Butler are a few names that come to mind.

Going on a senior trip to Costa Rica with a group of Conservation Biologists was an incredible experience. The diversity in that country is mind-blowing, and being with like-minded people who were equally awestruck by the natural beauty really was unforgettable!

I can knit, I'm pretty good at skipping rocks, and I can identify some trees and mushrooms. All skills/knowledge I'd be happy to share!

I'm excited to learn anything about the place I'm visiting, from cool parks to good music to tasty food.

I really like to cook, and like it even more when cooking with friends, new or old! Though I will eat almost anything, I cook mostly vegetarian (often vegan) dishes. I'm a big fan of sharing fun stories over a few drinks, too!
