About Me
Hi! My name is Alex and I am a 25-year-old physicist based in the Lake District, UK.
I'm extremely passionate about travelling and exploring (as I am sure everyone on this website is!) but I also absolutely love meeting new people, hearing their stories and expanding my understanding of how other people live. My creative hobbies include music, food and pottery, and I organise live gigs on a regular basis in Manchester, Newcastle and Bristol. I also enjoy outdoor rock climbing, hiking and wild running.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I would love to host new friends at my house to show you round the most beautiful part of the country, and share good food and wine with you! I love meeting new people and sharing stories and experiences, learning from other people, especially to learn about different parts of the world and to feel connected to people around the world.
I would also love to be able to join you in your home during my travels, and hopefully form lasting friendships that are reciprocal and last longer than one trip! I really think that knowing someone in the area that I'm travelling in makes my journey 1000000x more special and Couchsurfing is perfect for this.

Music, Movies, and Books
Ah what a hard question!
Favourite music currently:
+ Loren Connors and Kath Bloom - Sing The Children Over
+ Esse Pi Enne - Chamber Music
My favourite movie is probably 'The Cook, The Thief, His Wife & Her Lover'
My favourite book at the moment is probably 'Serve it Forth' by MFK Fisher, or 'The Hare with Amber Eyes' by Edmund de Waal
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I ran an independent, 'DIY' art gallery that was a key part in the Manchester art scene for 2 years when I was 21 while I was completing my Masters Degree, running monthly art exhibitions, live gigs, club nights and poetry nights...had the best time of my life!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you about physics, music, art and climbing, as well as showing you some of the food I like to cook with local produce in the Lake District! I can also provide english conversation practice.
I would like to learn anything that you have to teach, no matter how niche! I really love to learn and if you have a really specific interest that is fascinating to me. I would love to learn your language if you are willing to help.
Together we can share good food and good wine, share music recommendations and anything we have in common.
