About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore the world and learn from the experience

ABOUT ME

I'm a student from the University of California at Santa Cruz, where I'm studying Latin American Studies and Psychology. My profile is out of date, but I'll be working on updating it soon!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I'm still new to CS, so I'm still feeling out the options.

Interests

I especially love music, photography, and film, and I'm continually fascinated by the way all three art forms can do more than simply entertain. I also really enjoy hiking over any kind of terrain, from beach to snow, and cooking too.

I'm also interested in all things Peruvian and Brazilian!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - Jazz, "world", and indie, but I'm open to anything that sounds good.

Movies - I tend to like art films, movies that play with the form and use creative cinematography and plot shape. If there's something really unique about it, I'll usually watch it all the way through, despite bad acting, poor writing, etc. I also have a taste for epic movies. I'm a sucker for sweeping vistas and cataclysmic battles. Also, Brazilian Film!

Books - Some favorite authors are Margaret Atwood, Mia Couto, Julio Cortázar, Kurt Vonnegut, Neil Gaiman, Cynthia Ozick, and Salman Rushdie. Magic Realism/Speculative fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watched the sun rise over the Cordillera Blanca from 5000m on a mountain near Huaraz, Peru.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a decent cook, if I say so myself. My specialty is fresh guacamole and homemade tortilla chips, something I learned from Soledad, a saavy abuelita from Oaxaca, Mexico. I can also do some really good soups and homemade falafel.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Uruguay

Countries I’ve Lived In

Argentina, Peru, United States
