About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make friends all over the country

ABOUT ME

I want to expect the best of people. I want to trust and be trusted like polite people can.
I was raised in north Texas middle class suburbia. I had neighborhood bullies and a cross dressing mail-man. The boredom of modern life compels me to shoe horn meaning in to everything I do. So naturally I'm an idealist-ish.
My game plan now is to camp, couch surf and sleep in my car until I can save a huge stack of money for moving to somewhere I belong.
I have two jobs for a total of 55 to 60 hours a week. I love working and being a part of my community.

PHILOSOPHY

I am self reliant but strongly believe in cooperation and reciprocity. I believe the myth of "the self made man" does more to hinder the progress of society as a whole. We need each other more than we are willing to accept or at least more than we are capable of recognizing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to be mindful of where the things I need come from and where they go when I'm done with them. I think this is why I'm appreciative of being given a favor and always ready to return one.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

For the winter of '10-'11 I traveled with my girl friend all over the western United States. We stayed with a friend in Denver, Slept in our car in New Mexico and Arizona, visited a friend in Huntington Beach, stayed with a friend in San Francisco, camped in the Redwood Forrest, stayed with a friend in Seattle, and lived life to the fullest for every minute of it. The only way I had to repay our host was to clean their home as much as possible we where there. It was a winter that changed my life.

Interests

I'm a writer and performer for a rap group in Dallas County. I'm trying out stand up comedy at open mic nights. I like to sew my clothes when they need mending. I like to cook my own food as often as I can. I really do like sunsets sunrises and long views from atop hills and buildings. I want to laugh as much as possible in a day. I listen to hours of podcasts a week. I'm down to talk about podcasts with anyone, anytime.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't care much for movies and TV. Don't get me wrong, I'm down to throw away a couple hours watching south park or the ricky gervais show. But for the most part I listen to podcasts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sun Rise at the Grand Canyon, 4th of july fire works in New York City. I quit my comfortable life to travel the west and take a chance at radio school. I was there for the implosion of Cowboys stadium. One April a lot of hispanic students walked out on school as a protest against tougher deportation legislation. I followed the students all the way down to Dallas city hall. I got into the crowd with my megaphone and rallied the students to the point that people from city hall had to come out and disperse the crowd.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a good listener. I have an unnatural competency for looking for both or more sides of an idea, problem, plan, or conflict. All my life people have been saying to me "Oh, I never thought of it that way." It's not like I get some sort of pleasure out of proving people wrong or messing with peoples heads. It's more like "I respect and understand your point of view, but I can't help but keep in mind that there is more that one way to look at it."
Here's a list of some things I want to learn about
Drawing, painting, singing, percussion, acting, improvisation, cooking, baking, dancing, long distance running, car engines, fire spinning, croche, clothing design, creative writing, poetry, gardening, ju jitsu, wine making, what else....?
